Teaching Climate and Environmental Change in the SW workshop in Tucson
11.07.2009
Are you a secondary or K-8 educator that is interested in the climate and environment of the Southwest? If so, you should attend the Teaching Climate and Environmental Change in the Southwest workshop. Components of the workshop include, exploring the use of tree ring information and how it has been used to piece together past environments and predict future implications of these results, and a hands-on activity involving important aspects of our current climate and how scientists collect climate information from tree rings. The final component includes suggestions on how to better incorporate climate and environmental change into the classroom, a demonstration of two inquiry- based lessons, and additional references and teaching resources. This workshop is being offered by Christine Hallman and Allison Macalady, Ph.D candidates from the University of Arizona's Department of Geography & Regional Development. Cost To Attend: $20.00 (Please make checks payable to TUSD) Phone: 520-743-7422
