The Campus Sustainability Fund (CSF) is a unique and non-traditional grant program of the Office of Sustainability. Proposals are reviewed and selected by the student members of the CSF Committee. The Annual Grant application, CSF’s largest grant offering, is opening soon!

Annual Grants

Preliminary Annual Grants applications open November 13, 2023, and close January 21, 2024. This elongated application window allows us to account for Winter Break and the University’s Winter Closure, while ensuring applicants have more than enough time to get prepared!

Funding requests can range from $5,000 - $100,000. Depending on a project's goal and timeline, multi-year funding is available, but eligibility is at the discretion of the Committee. As a heads-up, funding will be allocated to approved projects in June 2024 and projects must be completed by June 30, 2025.

Annual Grants require a Preliminary Application and a Final Application. The application includes written responses, project team contacts, and a budget template that details funding requests and proposed expenditures. Both portions of the application can be accessed and submitted through an online form. Don’t forget to check out our application question guide to get helpful tips on how to approach some of the questions.

The Committee loves to see applications from all types of project teams, clubs, programs, departments, and colleges. The topic and outcomes of eligible proposals are diverse, but all projects must directly address environmental sustainability and/or social sustainability, and directly or indirectly benefit students at the University of Arizona. Project proposals based on social sustainability should incorporate environmental sustainability or climate action as a component of implementation, but these do not need to be the project’s primary focus.

All interested applicants can head over to the CSF’s website and review the Grant Application Information webpage to read about applicant eligibility, project requirements, and what the Committee will and won't fund, and approved project expectations.

All prospective applicants are highly encouraged to attend a CSF Committee Virtual Office Hour prior to submitting a Preliminary Application. Office Hours are held throughout the semester and are a casual way to get feedback, clarification on the process, and early assistance to ensure your project idea meets all requirements.

Please note that CSF Office Hours will not be available from December until the second week of spring 2024 classes to account for Winter Break and the University’s Winter Closure. If you want to contact a CSF Committee member, ensure you do so in October or November!

The Committee is looking forward to its third official application cycle and is eager to connect with students, faculty, and staff members looking to submit a project idea. For questions about the Campus Sustainability Fund or the application process, please connect with the program’s Coordinator, Emily Haworth, at emilyhaworth@arizona.edu.
