The University of Arizona was featured in the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education's (AASHE) annual Sustainable Campus Index (SCI). The SCI recognizes top-performing colleges and universities by country, institution type, and in 17 sustainability impact areas, as measured by the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS). Used by hundreds of colleges and universities, STARS helps institutions measure, report, and strengthen their contributions to global sustainability.
The University of Arizona launched the WEST Environmental Justice Center in November 2023. The center focuses on providing groups and organizations with free training, resources, and support to tackle environmental or energy justice challenges. Services include grants navigation, community leadership advocacy and training resources, hands-on technical consultations, and more. The center is an Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center that serves Arizona, Nevada, California, Hawai’i, and the US Affiliated Pacific Islands.
