By supporting UAFM's ongoing efforts to strategically address energy and water efficiency and sustainability initiatives across campus and maximized facility performance, the addition of the Commissioning and Analytics Specialist to the Facilities Management Energy Management team would be crucial to campus goals. Under the general supervision of the Director of Utility Services, the Commissioning and Analytics Specialist will collaborate with and report to the Campus Energy Manager. They will be directly responsible for monitoring and responding to Fault Detection and Diagnostics and Energy Information Systems, building energy auditing, building commissioning and retro-commissioning, systems test and balance, and working with student organizations and university stakeholders on energy and water issues. The expert's input will be crucial in creating UAFM strategies for efficient and methodical retro-commissioning and efficiency initiatives in campus buildings.
This position would be geared toward continuing to address efficiency in water and energy consumption, as more than 50% of campus electricity is currently provided from renewable sources thanks to a partnership with a local utility provider. The initial funding from CSF would help make this role possible.
Year one of this project (FY23) came with an obstacle of hiring. The majority of funding was swept back to the CSF for this first year to be repurposed for other projects because the funds were not used for payroll until half-way through the project.
