Project Description

UArizona’s Sustainability Summit is a four-hour long Earth Week event that serves as the pinnacle of ASUA’s Students for Sustainability’s week-long program. The Sustainability Summit itself consists of various speakers, activities, and tables to visit for students, faculty, staff, and the Tucson community to visit. The event places a strong emphasis on collectivity and community under the environmental conditions we face, while also providing attendees with multitudes of perspectives with which one may view these conditions. To bring together different perspectives and communities, the Sustainability Summit featured a diverse panel of speakers and engaged community members from all walks of life. Building on a semester of planning and relationships with over twenty-five other groups, this project provides the University community with a full day of deepened environmental education and networking opportunities.

Project Outcomes

The Arizona Sustainability Summit had a significant impact on the campus community. With over 70 enthusiastic attendees, the event brought together people who care about the planet's future. SFS proudly hosted 18 incredible organizations at the summit, giving them a platform to showcase their work in areas like campus life and social sustainability. The summit featured 10 inspiring speakers who shared valuable insights and knowledge. Notably, five dedicated students were part of the planning team, and they are committed to organizing future editions of this event.
