This initiative proposes to tackle climate anxiety at the University of Arizona by enhancing mental health support for students and staff through accessible resources and community-building efforts. Recognizing the profound impact of climate change on mental health, especially among youth, this initiative focuses on providing free eco-anxiety workshops and support groups to our campus community. By leveraging campus healthcare expertise and fostering collective resilience, the university seeks to empower its community in addressing climate-related distress. Actionable items include:

  • Implement free community healing sessions and eco-therapy programs facilitated by Counseling & Psych Services (CAPS).
  • Establish a faculty and staff support group focused on climate grief counseling and collective action to address shared environmental concerns.
  • Pilot a group workshop series to equip students with coping strategies for managing eco-anxiety and promoting mental well-being.
