Initiative ID
1.6
This initiative proposes to expand solar energy installations on campus to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and enhance renewable energy use. The plan includes pursuing an on-site solar power purchase agreement, integrating microgrid and storage solutions, and ensuring the retention of renewable energy credits (RECs). Additionally, it involves making energy production data publicly available and preparing the district energy system for a transition to clean energy sources. Actionable items include:
- Pursue an on-site solar power purchase agreement to install 4.80 MWAC of solar on the main campus.
- Integrate microgrid and storage solutions, including electric vehicle charging opportunities.
- Conduct a full analysis of all university properties for solar potential and specific site limitations.
- Ensure the retention and proper use of renewable energy credits (RECs) for all solar projects.
- Monitor and publicly share energy production data through the EnergyCAP management system.
