This initiative proposes to accommodate individual limitations and various capabilities in the Sustainability & Climate Action Plan's initiatives, acknowledging the diversity of behavior change journeys. It plans for a range of outcomes and considers these realities in the goals, avoiding negative impacts or punitive measures for those unable to fully comply with the initiatives. This flexible approach to sustainability and climate action initiatives will ensure that all community members can engage meaningfully with this plan without punitive measures for partial compliance. Actionable items include:

  • Develop sustainable transportation options that accommodate various abilities and financial constraints, such as prioritizing accessible parking and shared mobility solutions.
  • Ensure building certification initiatives like LEED offer alternative pathways for compliance that consider regional contexts and community limitations.
  • Facilitate qualitative feedback from all campus community members to refine initiatives and ensure inclusivity in sustainability efforts.
